Whats in YOUR coffin?
“What would you like in your casket with you?” Is a question in our Dead Good Funeral Plan that may seem somewhat strange to us in the West, but many cultures have been putting items in caskets, to accompany their loved ones journey to the other side, for many years.
However, the Jamaicans seem to have taken this age old ritual a tad too far. Not only are they known to place items such as knives, ganja, money, drinks, guns and jewelry in the coffin of the deceased, but according to The Jamaican Gleaner, cell phones are the number one item these days too.
Reasoning behind this is, one, the family intend to call their dead and ask to talk to other families members who have passed, and two, they call to see if enlightenment can be cast upon next week’s lottery numbers. The clergy in Jamaica are up in arms about this, as services are now constantly being interrupted by the incessant ringing of a cell phone from the casket.
Puts a whole new take on “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!”

hilarious! I want this done at my funeral, except I’m gonna tell my closest friend that upon my death I want them to change my ringtone to a recording that I’ve done:
“Damn this is a tight fight, you guys couldn’t spring for a bigger coffin for me?!”
and I’m gonna tell them to make sure to call my cell during the service!!!

this is fantastic …ive also heard a couple of stories where loved ones have put the fone in with the deceased and then a few weeks after burial / cremation they have received calls from that cellfones number (no messages were left) …. weird

Just leave a chilled bottle of wine and a good book and I’ll be happy.
