The Wheel of Time Turns and Ages Come and Pass

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose…. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time.
But it was a beginning.”
- Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time

Robert Jordan, famous author of the epic “Wheel of Time” fantasy series died Sunday afternoon after a long battle with a rare blood disease called amyloidosis. He was 58.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Jordan served two tours in Vietnam and later earned a physics degree from the Citadel. His writing career began in 1977 when he first published Conan the Barbarian stories, though it wasn’t until he released the “Wheel of Time” that he started to enjoy true success as a writer. Each of the 11 books in the series has been on the top sellers list and all have been critically acclaimed. Jordan was working on the 12th and final novel at the time of his death. While it is still uncertain if the series will now ever conclude, some sources say that his wife Harriet will finish the last chapter for her late husband.
